Whether you are a QuickBooks ProAdvisor or a QuickBooks user, you can benefit from
knowing what is going on behind the scenes in QuickBooks. For instance, have you
ever had to look for the location of your QuickBooks company file? If you're a
QuickBooks consultant, have you ever had to collect information concerning the client's network
and their QuickBooks program and company file history?

By pressing the F2 key (or using the CTRL+1 key combination), you can discover a wealth
of information about the QuickBooks program that is currently running; about the
QuickBooks company file that is currently open; and about the environment in which QuickBooks
is currently running.
Just take a look at the information available in this modified screenshot. With just a quick
glance, you can see the edition, version, release, license number, and product number of
QuickBooks; whether or not the product has been registered; and the number of license users.
You can see where the open QuickBooks company file is located. You can see the file size,
the number of transactions, and the list types and sizes in the open QuickBooks company file.
You can even see the QuickBooks database engine version number and networking information
such as the server name and IP address -- all with the press of a key.
